Do proper horns "suffer" from K2? Do you not think that the back chamber loading is part of the engineered concept? Are you sure that reflections from the room that travel through the horn to the diaphragm would not cause more trouble? How can yo...

[quote user="pure sound"].... the most interesting aspect to me is reading about how he makes the appraisals he does ie assessing equipment by the impact that well understood, "content loaded" classical music can/should have on the listener. Whil...

I do not know how my S2 driver will sound but I defiantly know that it will have the problem with temperature. Looking prematurely at the driver’s sound it looks like it produce the necessary magnetic force at 2A-2.3A, that heats a lot of this driver...

A few years ago playing with my favorite Vitavox S2 driver I was asking myself how it might sound if instead of the Alnico magnet the electromagnets would be used. As many other driver of the period the Vitavox did not utilized the only one magnet ty...

Hello, Pawel.
I never heard nether about Onkyo HM-300MK2 or about
anybody who use it. It looks like it is one of many obscured Japanize drivers,
and they made plenty of those. A simple googling said that it has 2 inches
voice coil, duralumin di...

[quote user="guy sergeant"] Having said that I've never heard a properly working WE555 or 594 either and given the problems of getting the S2 to work well I can't imagine there are many installations using those drivers with the right sort of horns t...

I understand all disadvantages going digital.
I strongly believe that minimal influence to the signal is the most important aspect.
And influences in digital domain are usually terrible.
But I'm not sure what other options available....

Gentlemen,
I suppose it is time to defend my sterling reputation here. The EnABL process does in deed work across the full frequency band. Works on all driver types and permits the very qualities that Romy seems to appreciate in the treated Linneum ...

The “best midrange comes from compression drivers”. I see somebody like Haralanov would be very much opposed to this comment. The irony is that I would be opposed as well to this comment. I would say that the best midrange at over 107dB sensitiv...

Well, I have to admit that I did not listen the whole sound of AC vs. DC filaments yet. I will bring home today my DC lab supply that I use for my electromagnet coil and will give the try. I still at this point am not concerned about the “whole ...

As I wrote before I picked some Vitavox S3 driver.

and I was expediting with them recently to use in Fundamental Chanel. My idea was that S3 might care LF knee better then S2. In past I had S3 ...

Be, this is an interesting thinking and if you are correct and if there is an opening from front chamber into magnet assembly then the volume of the magnet chamber would certainly affect the sound of the driver. The point that I argue is that suc...

Yes, I do feel that letting a diaphragm to idle less (means
more loading) you can tame the code resonance, and the ringgy metal cone in particular
but it might be done in context of worsening upper transients and over-damping
the lower driver knee...

Jessie,
I was about to replay to your post and suddenly John Hasquin posted his reply that said exactly what I meant to say. In fact he has much more credential to assess the validity of you attempts then me as he actually build the horns. In additi...

The subject of electromagnetic, or as they called field-coil drivers, popped up at my site numerous times. (Look as it list of related threats). The advances or shortcomings of electromagnetic drivers are arguable, I have my vision, but it is not the...

Hi rowuk,
Suffering is relative to your expectation and perception. Still, take the best driver you can imagine, measure the distortion, and you see same pattern but better than any standard compression driver: all distortions are phenomal low, ex...

Back to 2006 I had a thread “Adding one more spherical to Macondo.” The thread itself and the concept that it lead to - the Fundamentals Channel - turned to be a phenomenal success. I know, I know for someone it might appear like nothing but if y...

Be, if you look at the picture of the S2 then you will see that between the exit of the phase plug and beginning of throat there is a circular channel that violates my view of proper transition in compression driver. This channel is on the side o...

Listening my Macondo with new “Fundamental channel” I noted that my tweeter is not as effective as it use to be. The effect of “not-effectiveness” is very minor but at some recordings it is notable. My T350 still sorts the Vitavox S2’s top but it als...
